Associating spare parts with assets is an important step in effective maintenance management. Asset–Parts Mapping in Fogwing CMMS enables you to link one or more spare parts to specific assets, making it easier for maintenance teams to identify the correct parts during work order execution and inventory planning.
Instead of mapping each part manually, the Asset–Parts Mapping Import feature allows you to import multiple asset-part associations in bulk using a CSV template.
This article explains how to prepare the Asset–Parts Mapping CSV template for a successful import.
Step 1: Download the CSV Template
Navigate to the Data Import section in Fogwing CMMS and download the Asset–Parts Mapping CSV Template.
The template contains the required fields for mapping assets with their corresponding spare parts. Using the provided template helps ensure the data is imported without formatting issues.
Step 2: Fill in the Asset–Parts Mapping Data
Open the downloaded CSV template and populate the required information.
Each row represents a single association between an asset and a spare part.
Below are the guidelines for each field.
1. Asset Code
Description:
The unique code of the asset (machine or equipment) to which the spare part will be linked.
Guidelines:
Enter the existing Asset Code available in Fogwing CMMS.
The Asset Code must exactly match the Asset Code already present in the system.
If the Asset Code does not exist, the mapping cannot be imported.
Example:

2. Parts Code
Description:
The unique code of the spare part to be associated with the asset.
Guidelines:
Enter the existing Parts Code available in Fogwing CMMS.
The Parts Code must exactly match the Parts Code already present in the system.
If the Parts Code does not exist, the mapping cannot be imported.
Example:

In the above example:
AHU_001 is associated with three spare parts.
PUMP_101 is associated with two spare parts.
This demonstrates that multiple spare parts can be associated with a single asset.
Step 3: Save the File
After entering all the mappings, save the file in CSV (.csv) format.
Before submitting the file, verify the following:
All Asset Codes exist in Fogwing CMMS.
All Parts Codes exist in Fogwing CMMS.
There are no spelling mistakes or extra spaces.
Each row contains a valid Asset Code and Parts Code.
Duplicate asset-part mappings have been removed.
Step 4: Submit the File for Import
Once the CSV file is complete, send it to the Fogwing Support Team for validation and import.
Email the completed CSV file to [email protected].
The support team will validate the file, import the asset-part mappings into your Fogwing CMMS account, and notify you once the import is complete.
Best Practices
Ensure that all assets and spare parts have already been imported before creating the mapping.
Use the exact Asset Codes and Parts Codes available in Fogwing CMMS.
Verify that there are no duplicate mappings in the CSV file.
Review the completed template before submission to minimize validation errors.
Associate all commonly used spare parts with their respective assets to simplify maintenance planning and work order execution.
