Importing Parts into Fogwing CMMS

How to import parts into Fogwing CMMS using the data import feature

Written by Prasad Korgaonkar

Fogwing CMMS offers a streamlined way to manage and track parts in your maintenance system. The Data Import feature allows you to bulk upload parts information through a CSV file, simplifying the process of adding new parts to the fogwing system.

This feature is particularly useful for users who have a large inventory or need to migrate data from other systems into Fogwing CMMS.

Step 1: Download the CSV Template

To import parts, you will need to download a CSV template from the Fogwing system and fill it with the required details for each part. Make sure you have all the required information ready to be filled in the template.

Step 2: Fill in the Part Details

Once you’ve downloaded the template, it’s time to fill in the part details. Below, we’ve broken down each field in the CSV file and what you need to include to ensure a smooth import process.

  • Description: A unique code for each part.

  • Requirement: Must be unique, with no special characters other than hyphen (-) or underscore (_).

Step 3: Fill the Template and Verify Details

Once you have completed the template with all the required information, please take a moment to carefully review the details. It is crucial to verify the accuracy of the information on your end, as once the part details are uploaded to the Fogwing system, they cannot be reverted to their original state. Ensure all data is correct before proceeding to avoid any errors or irreversible changes.

Step 4: Data Verification and Upload Assistance

After you have verified the data, the Fogwing support team will assist you in validating the information and uploading the file to the system. This step is a critical part of the onboarding process, ensuring that all the details are properly processed and integrated into the system.
